Abortion Hallal or Haram?
The process of brain-making starts in 2 days and it completes after 2 months. Abortion is permissible before 2 months of pregnancy, but it is not favorable according to science because new life has started to come.
"And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right."
(Surah Al-Isra, 17:33)
"The creation of each one of you is brought together in the mother's womb for forty days as a drop, then it becomes a clot for a similar period, then a lump for a similar period. Then the angel is sent to him, who blows the soul into him..."
(Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
The Quran contains several verses that reference human embryonic development, often interpreted as remarkable descriptions aligning with modern embryology. One of the most cited verses is from **Surah Al-Mu’minun (23:12-14)**:
> **"And We did create man from a quintessence of clay. Then We placed him as a drop of fluid in a safe lodging. Then We made the drop into a clinging substance, then We made the clinging substance into a chewed-like lump, then We made out of the lump bones, and We clothed the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators."**
Key Terms and Stages in the Verse
1. **Nutfah (Drop of fluid)**: Refers to the initial stage of human creation, interpreted as the sperm and egg or the zygote.
2. **Alaqah (Clinging substance)**: Often translated as "a leech-like substance," this stage may describe the embryo's appearance and its attachment to the uterine wall.
3. **Mudghah (Chewed-like lump)**: Describes the embryo at a stage resembling a chewed piece of flesh, corresponding to somite development.
4. **Idham (Bones)**: Refers to the formation of the skeletal structure.
5. **Lahm (Flesh)**: Indicates the muscles covering the bones.
6. **Another creation**: Suggests the transition to a fully formed human.
Modern Interpretations
These descriptions have been compared with discoveries in embryology:
- The **clinging substance (alaqah)** aligns with the embryo's appearance and behavior during implantation.
- The **chewed-like lump (mudghah)** correlates with the early somites and the segmented body structure.
- The sequence of **bones being clothed with flesh** resembles the process of musculoskeletal development.
While these verses have been studied by scholars and compared to embryology, interpretations may vary depending on theological and scientific perspectives.
